Член на СБХ и Интернационалния съюз на художниците, той е основател и председател на Международния пленер “Свети Лука”, Кюстендил.
От скоро Явор Гонев е в Чикаго и показа свои живописни картини в Кук Каунти, Чикаго.

..... Other interesting exhibition which you can see during the week in Sofia is “Ceramic Paintings” by the artist Yavor Gonev. It is shown at the capital gallery Solers and it is much shorter – only until the end of June. .....

..... Into the traditional material the artist has weaved pictorial elements experimenting with different colored clays, relieves, textures. As a theme in his creative work the folklore presents constantly – elements from the old Bulgarian houses, embroideries, lyrics of folklore songs. Recreated in a new contemporary way, they show the relation between the past and the present, between the traditional and the modern.

THE PICTURESQUE CERAMIC BY KUSTENDIL ARTIST

The Kustendil ceramist Yavor Gonev spends most of his time around his kiln at his house basement. From the red clay there are born his colored plastics, plates, vases ..…

... As many diplomats visit the art exhibition in Kustendil they always stay long in front of Yaror’s works. Not long ago the artist was delighted by the interest of Lin Montgomery, the wife of the ex USA ambassador here. She gladly bought his work “Face” created by motifs of a poem of the American poet Carl Sandburg.
“I am excited most by the folklore theme – admits Yavor – More precise the combination between folk and jazz improvisation – this is what Teodosi Spasov makes in music, with me is refracted trough the language of clay.” According to the sculptor the folklore expresses in most pure aspect the thinking and the conception of the world of the Bulgarians. He models only by hand and uses the natural color of the material, without glaze. Something from the atmosphere of the old homemade textile exhales from his works – they are all painted with different ornaments familiar to us from embroideries and adornments.

But to everything has given a new meaning by the individuality of the artist.

Born in Sofia in 1957, member of Union of Bulgarian Artists, author of eight personal exhibitions, he had dozens of participations in expositions of decorative art, owner of several elite prizes. He is known in Bulgaria, in Europe and in the world. At the moment New York has opened its doors for his talent. There, at the biggest street, at the mega polis, at the foot of Empire States Building and the hundreds of banks those dictate the money of the planet; he will show 20 of his works made at his humble home in Kustendil .....
